Car Mats and what you didn’t know.
The mat was born many years ago, with the first being woven or plaited together by hand using coconut fibers ,strips of Cain, grasses and rushes, known as “coir” used mainly in the united kingdom. The first mats were used, to put in front of doors and to cover bare floors , eventually as records show mats moved into cars around the 1860’s 1880’s.
Car mats are used to protect a vehicle; they are designed to fit around the contours of the vehicle foot wells and the passenger area. Secondly they are used to keep our vehicles clean and tidy.
With our busy lifestyles we like the idea of car mats, giving us less to clean less often. Some rubber car mats have fixation points underneath them, a neat little way of keeping them in a chosen position, carpet mats on the other hand, have a tufted rubberized anti-slip backing, much like the rubber mats. They are usually today, tough, strong, durable yet tactile and flexible.
Car mats these days are becoming more of a car fashion accessory, as back 20 years ago they would have been one plain colour quite dreary, but today you can pick a glitzy colored car mat up with a preferred logo on it, for example Post man Pat or Audi. With them becoming a fashion statement in people’s vehicles, you can even go online to car websites and design your own personalized car mats.
Like I said, car mats are widely used in every vehicle around the globe, being there at least one manufactured car mat purposely for that specific vehicle.
