Flush Doors
As you go around your home and look at the doors between the rooms in your house, give them a tap with your knuckles. Do the sound solid or do the sound hollow?
In many homes they may sound hollow. If this is the case then you probably have flush doors. Basically, the are two outside skins which are mounted on a frame work with honey comb supports between to give the outer finish some stability.
They are probably the cheapest doors on the market. They offer privacy between rooms and there will be some noise reduction too but other than that, they are just there to fill the hole in the wall.
However, that doesn’t mean they have to be drab in appearance. In fact you can get them in a range of colours to match your décor. You can paint them if you desire or add transfers. You can even buy kits to give them a 3d feel so the look more decorative.
Although they are all made the same, they do vary in structure just a little. The honey comb pattern inside is only one way to make up the insides of these doors. They have rectangular construction too and they have a wide range of materials being used as well.
Some may even have solid wooden blocks in them too. In fact, most do. This allows for handles and door knobs, even locks to be added.
Although theses doors are simple considered basic and less expensive, they still offer the same as any other door.
They are not the best door in the case of a fire but on the other hand, you could fight your way through one if you absolutely had too.
And given the fact that they can be somewhat plain, there is also the opportunity to use them as a blank canvas to fit into any décor with a view to change the colour etc in order to finish a room to perfection.
Strong enough for the average family and versatile too, what more could you ask when looking to save money. |
