Kitchen Flooring
Flooring is always a choice to be made for a kitchen with one thing in particular in mind. Will it stay clean; below is a list of the choices that are out there for the perfect finishing touch to any kitchen.
• Laminate.
• Linoleum.
• Wooden.
• Bamboo.
• Carpet.
• Stone.
• Tiled.
So let’s take a look at these floor choices in more detail.
Laminate flooring is very common with in the home, office, hospitals and many other public places. This is probably because it’s versatile, hard wearing and available in so many different colours and patterns. Its easy to clean and will look beautiful in all kitchens.
Linoleum is also popular. This is because as with laminate it’s versatile in colour and design. It’s easy to clean and can be hard wearing. This is also a good choice because it has no joins there for eliminating the chance for bacteria to set up home in the gaps that we can’t see but bacteria can.
Wooden flooring is also hard wearing. However it is a porous material so you should make sure that you choose a good make that is made specifically for the activity that comes with a kitchen. All wooden flooring should come protected with a varnish of some sort to make it fit for purpose.
Bamboo is another hard wearing material that can be used for flooring. It comes in several colours and patterns and does the job just fine.
Carpet is not such an obvious choice for the kitchen. You can however get hard wearing carpet or carpet tiles that have protection against spillages and general wear and tear so if you prefer the warmer feel to your kitchen, don’t be afraid to experiment with the idea. Just make sure you choose wisely.
Stone is probably the most harg wearing material you could put on a floor. With several types of stone to choose from you will find one that looks good in your kitchen and is up to the job of being constantly walked on and cleaned. However stone can be cold to the touch so make sure you put your slippers on first thing in the morning.
Tiled floors are always good for choice. As above you can get tiles in all the above materials and the beauty with tiles is that you can mix and match colours and even textures and materials if you so choose.
So, enjoy your kitchen and the floor you choose. |
